New issue of Canadian Journal of Education released
For you edu-academic types, volume 40(1)2017 of CJE has been released.
You may prefer to read others, but the one article that attracted my attention is by Nicole Malette titled Forms of Fighting-A Micro-Social Analysis of Bullying and In-School Violence.
Selected From the article:
- “Students engage in a number of violent behaviours beyond bullying. Appreciating those different dynamics is important for intervening and preventing violence in schools.” (p. 21)
- The author identifies ” five types of violence: bullying, scapegoating, peer-to-peer honour contests, group fights, and retaliatory violence” (p. 1).
- “Creating effective violence intervention and prevention methods is reliant on understanding the interpersonal dynamics that sustain each type of violence.”(p. 22)
