I was reading the latest issue of the Queen’s Alumni Review, Issue 1, 2017 (Queen’s University in Kingston, ON) and an article titled Illustrating the Importance of Engineering talked about the website Aboriginal Access to Engineering, and in particular, a new graphic booklet titled I’m a Mechanical Engineer. “This book is the latest in a series, created to contextualize discipline in engineering for Aboriginal youth.” (p. 25).
The site includes pages for kids, youth and adults, and a series of publications for students on different engineering specialties (chemical, geological, mechanical, civil). In particular the resource What Engineers Do is available for free downloading and in multiple aboriginal languages. The page also includes a grade 3 unit: Strong and Stable Structures with blackline masters.
