Journal for educators of deaf/hard of hearing students

July 21, 2016 at 8:00 am Leave a comment

I have recently discovered the journal Odyssey: New Directions in Deaf Education. Other journals for DHH teachers and available through our Ebsco and Sage databases are – in my humble opinion – very academic and research-y. Odyssey seems to be more practical for the classroom teacher.

From their web page: “Odyssey magazine is an award-winning publication published annually by the Clerc Center. Each issue is theme-based, focusing on topics of importance as they relate to research, philosophy, and application of practice of instruction in the deaf education classroom.”

The journals may be downloaded for free. Each annual edition has a theme, for example:

  • 2016 – collaboration
  • 2015 – technology
  • 2014 – high expectations

The following journals from the EBSCO journal database specialize in deaf and hearing impaired students. The following titles are linked to the main bibliographic/Table of Contents page for each journal. TDSB teachers will need password to open and read these availble in this Google document Remember  to login using your TDSB password and not your personal gmail

Check ’em out! Rowan
